Turbo Power Services chosen as project developer for La Rumorosa I

Turbo Power Services was chosen as project developer for the wind farm La Rumorosa I, in Baja California, Mexico. The governor of the state, José Guadalupe Osuna Millán, announced they had decided in favor of the company's $26.2 million dollar proposal.

Turbo Power Services will be in charge of installing 5 wind turbines from Spanish manufacturer Gamesa. A total of ten 2 MW wind turbines will be installed in the road between Mexicali and Tijuana, where La Rumorosa I is located.

Baja California's secretary of Infrastructure and Urban Development (SIDUE), Luis López Moctezuma, said that the contract will be signed on February 27, once all the paper work has been filed and all the permits presented by the company. The idea is to complete the installation of the wind turbine s by the end of September.

The project was approved as a self-consumption project for the municipalities of Mexicali and Tijuana, and is expected to generate the equivalent to half the electricity demand in the region, which includes approximately 35 thousand families. The project will also "help to reduce the cost of lighting the streets in the region," said the governor.

The companies that took part in the RFP process include Acciona Energía México, Asociación Mexicana de Energía Eólica, Empresa de Ingeniería Eléctrica y Control Instrumental, Empresa de Gestión Avanzada de Sistemas Integrados, Rumorosa WE2 and the company Turbo Power Services.

Turbo Power Services is a Mexican company that operates with foreign capital.
